John,

This is also in response to your article in Today 24 Nov to brainstorm ideas to overcome the current downturn:

1) Individuals/employees need to have the mindset of self-ownership & not blame others or management - alot of things in the world are connected & they do come around in a circle to us finally eg. whether it's in our personal financial management, contribution in the workplace or lack of it, etc.

2) We need to really think hard & differently (be alert & look around us for ideas), to speak up & do things more efficiently/effectively/creatively, & to go that extra mile - if not for the customer, than for ourself. This attitude of continuous improvement, the relentless pursuit of self-excellence is energizing in the low-morale state of a downturn, & being a performance differentiator can be rewarding career-wise.

3) Those who have the knowledge/skills/resources to help others like you & I should step forth & volunteer to share/educate/help those less able in this downturn eg. with career coaching, etc.

I would like to chat with you over dinner to exchange further ideas & thoughts from our life/work experiences ... Cheers!
