Today we lay to rest our dear friend Colonel Paul Cautley CMG OBE DL in a churchyard in Haywards Heath, UK.
Whoever and wherever his friends are and whether they can attend the funeral in person or online they will have one thing in common. To have known, debated with, rejoiced with and laughed with Paul is one of those rare privileges in life that they will always remember and love. Paul had many achievements and there will be lots of obits about him to explain and laud them.
But in a world of distraction and dysfunction it is lovely to be able to say “He was a thoroughly decent and kind man”. When life comes to an end for most people there is a closure, an end, a chapter completed. With Paul I don’t think that is true. He is no longer with us for sure. But his spirit and his aura will always be present for those who knew him.
And for his beautiful wife, Liz, and their two wonderful daughters. They know they have had someone very special in their lives.
And we know we have, too.
Rest well, my friend, you earned your keep.
Please now take quiet time to sleep.
Love
John & Eliza
